It sounds like someone rebarrled the rifle in 30.06. Back before there were multiple 30 caliber cartridges, 30.06 was refered to as 30 caliber. Can't help on value, are there any other markings on the rifle?

There was something like RF.LXXX or RL.FXXX where X are letters I can't remember. The barrel was in rough shap, either massive rust or left over cosmo. I was thinking about picking this up just for a project gun to learn how to do some refinishing on. Any other ideas?

I was going to say Israeli k-98, but when I googled they put 7.62 on the receiver. No help here.
Is is a Karabiner or a Full length rifle? Sporterized? |

Not sporter and I would lean towards a karabiner though I cant be 100% sure.
