Locally I can buy the 60 for $166 and the 795 for $144.  I already own a 10/22 so thought I'd add a Marlin to my collection.  I've read that the actions are very similar other than the differences required for the tube feed versus clip feed.  Any recommendations?

I have both.

I like the 60 better, but the 795 is nice for things like appleseed since you can just swap out mags easily.

I imagine that if I was using it for small game hunting, the 60 would be better so the mag doesn't poke you if you sling it.

Both are pretty decent for the price and very accurate.  They break-in well with use.

I've already thought about that.  Maybe I should have asked which one I should buy first.

Do what I did.  Get a nice stainless, laminate stock 60 first.   Then get a basic, blued 795 with plastic stock second.

i prefer Marlin 60's because theyre so cheap when you buy them used

i bought 4 of them for $70 - $90 a piece

also like them since they carry over 14 rounds
check out my latest Marlin 795 conversion.  still need to do a few more tweaks to it before i take it to the range and scare everyone  ;)

Hey, that's pretty cool.  It would look good with one of the ProMag 70-rd drums (I have one on order but it hasn't shown up yet.  Can't figure out why ;)

I have two of the 795s and like them.  One is pretty much original and the second will soon have a bull pup stock.  For $120 new you can't beat those things for an out-of-the-box shooter with detachable mags.

Both.

I put Tec sights on a 795 and made it an "appleseed: trainer.  The 60 is awesome for squirrels etc.

Yup.  Thats what I did.

I will take pics of them together, later on.  Maybe include some of my AQTs in there
