I played with one of these a while back at the the fun shop, it had the 1.5x optic, I really liked it but the price was a No Go
I was surfin' around last night and see they are getting down right reasonable, in some cases just a bit more than a good AR I may have to get one |

Remember the part in Die Hard when the German Karl takes out his AUG and slides in and twist locks the barrel to drive home the point that he's not #$%@ing around? Get an STG and you can do that too. http://www.imfdb.org/images/thumb/6/69/DH-AUG-2.jpg/600px-DH-AUG-2.jpg I grew my hair long and stringy just for this reason alone! It's worth it! |

Don't forget the AUG that Pachino uses in Heat. At least I think that is what that must be.

Henderson Defense has 4 OD STG556s, 16" barrels, with optics, plus an optics rail in the counter. One stop shopping for an optic equipped STG and the rail for adding an Aimpoint later.

I got an STG 556 i think 5 days ago. It's the second shortest thing I play with until my fingers bleed.

Pachino used the FN/FNC in Heat. He knows. The joke is that so many people cannot name what he used, which has spawned all the "What gun in Heat" threads |

Dan Hayeda had one in the worst edited gunfight scenes in movie history. That was the first time I ever saw an AUG. That was the first time I ever saw a shotgun fired 20 times w/o reloading too. That was also the first time I saw an entire movie where NOBODY shot a rifle using the sights. "...You're a funny guy Sully. That's why I'm going to kill you last..." Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

"Lifeforce (1985)". The British troops had AUGs, since I guess the studio couldn't get SA80s. They looked good, and a naked Mathilda May didn't hurt either!

Don't forget the trenchcoat-wearing hit men in "Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man." They all had AUGs. Of course, they never shot them from the shoulder. Looks much cooler shootin' from the hip, ya know.
Going slightly off topic here, have you noticed how movies are finally showing people shooting rifles correctly? (For the most part.) If you watch movies from the 70s -80s, it always shows soldiers, mercenaries, etc. shooting their assault rifles, SMGs, etc. from the hip. ala "Commando." Now, most films have guys shooting from the shoulder, eyes peering down the sights. The first movie that I really noticed this was Terminator 2. The SWAT guys in the film were a real LA SWAT team, and they always had their HKs pressed against their shoulders. Since that movie, I notice the shoulder-mount, use-the-sights stance being used a lot more in films. "Heat" is a great example of this. |

The first time I ever saw the AUG was in a Gary Busey movie called "Surviving the Game." I figured it was just a movie prop since it was so futuristic.

The earliest appearance of an AUG I can recall is in a BBC show from the late 70's called "The Professionals." A bunch of Special Branch guys were pouring out of a van and several carried AUG's. The show was broadcast from Windsor, Canada on CBC Channel 9 and we could pick it up with our antenna in Jackson, Michigan. It was a pretty cool show and realistic for the time. Lots of Hi-Powers and L1A1's, too.

What are the differences between the STG556 and the E4? The E4 takes AR mags, and has the picatinny rails, right? Any other significant differences? Are there any other models (other than optics, vs. the rail w/out optics)? I ask because there seems to be a big variation in prices, depending on where you look. CDNN has the STG556 around $1000, while other dealers seem to be more expensive. Then E4s seem to be around $2000.
*edited to add: disregard, I found this thread tacked with the answers to my questions. |

Then the STG556. Dude wanted $200 MORE for the STG556. His answer, "Hes got too much 'invested' in the STG." WTF? bwahahahaha. Then again, this shop is in one of the few towns in the country where Fed jobs keeps most everyone flushed with cash, and he had more used ARs >$1000 than I care to list (olympics, bushmasters, S&W). Too bad E4s are non-existant on like Gun Genie or something. |

In Predators released this month Adrien Brody takes a USAS 12 off his shoulder so he can hold it to his hip and fire. But they were on a completely different planet and he has one more Oscar than I do so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. |
