Checked out a Gen III (or IIa?) that had the barrel with Jagdkommando f/h at a local dealer today. Asking price was $1749. Not a bad price locally since most in my area are going for over 2 grand. The only problem was it was black and I was kind of hoping to find a green Gen IV. The funny thing is I asked the dealer if he was going to order the STANAG model announced at SHOT last week that takes AR mags and he told me the one I was looking at did.

yeah he is lying and because of that, I would not do business with him, just my opinion.

look at gunbroker, see if you find a better price and the color you want.

May have been just someone who worked for the dealer and had no knowledge or experience with the STG 556. Regardless it's an STG 556 (or it's possible he got confused, because the STG 556 does use 5.56NATO or .223 Rem ammunition like the AR) and the GEN III are good rifles. You're not going to be going through the dealer for any service or anything beyond just the purchase so as long as you don't finance it through him or do some sort of layaway, but can pay cash and walkout with it I don't see anything that should stop you from taking advantage of that very fair price.

Always check out gunbroker to see if you can get a better price, but I think you're only going to find them on there for slightly less and when you factor in shipping and FFL transfer fee you're going to be at around $1750 anyways so it's kind of nice to just get that with being able to see and feel the rifle.

That's my opinion though. It's your money and your call.
