Great info for someone who has not taken one apart.  What kind of tool is it that is used to remove the extractor spring?  Is it something one can order from HK.  If so, would you happen to have the part number for it?  I have something that my gunsmith made - I think it is stainless steel and it is like a thin pencil with a fine point which works pretty good but always like to try something else to see if it is better.  It kind of like what my brother always says, "No job is hard, if you have the right tool".

Thanks for your help!

Good info usagold.

Personally, I think the extractor spring tool (Pic of mine) is more trouble than it's worth, I went back to a modified pin punch and never looked back.  YMMV

You can get a 5-pack of springs from Top-Notch, for about $25.
