I am looking for a 7.62x39 caliber rifle that takes detachable mags, and has a bolt hold open. The SkS/ak model is illegal in NJ so that is out(unless I get a letter head from my job(Snowball chans in Hell)). The Semi VZ 58 by OOW cost about $1200.00 too expensive. Who makes good reliable mags for the Mini 30? I know that the yugo mags hold the bolt open on an AK type, but it is probaly hard to get the mag out. I was thinking about an Ar type in that caliber, but I want to stay away from the gas system.

Bill Ruger didn't think you had a right to mags that held more then 10 rounds, so don't look for factory mags. I think that Ram Line may have made some way back when. How about an AR in 7.62x39?

I want to stay away from the gas system. If I could find one with a piston system like the DSA gas trap, I would grab it. MGI Military is making a lower with that accepts standard AK mags.

AK mags don't have a bolt hold open.

Eagle mags are soso. Promag has some new ones out the resemble the Bulgarian waffles. I wish PMI would make them. The ones they make for the mini 14 are of good quality. Does any one have the site for USA mags?
