Thanks. HappyNew Year. Would you recommend one or the other 44/38 ?

I only have the 38 and I would recommend it because it'll make your shoulder black and blue.

Both, they don't cost much, BUT they can eat up a lot of ammo.

if you plan on being a 1 mosin man i would reccomend a 91/59

http://www.allans-armory.com/aaresult.asp?PageId=51

they are the same size and looks of the m38 but they have a heavy barrel. they are also a lot scarcer and a heck of a lot more collectable. this dealer is the only one that has them. 38's and 44's are a dime a dozen but you need them too if you plan on being a multi mosin man.

Ung? Mine shoots much softer than a .308 or .30-06 bolt action.

M44 or M38. Either or. They are basically the same rifle. The biggest difference is that the M44 has the side-folding baoynet. I picked up the M38 instead (with original stock).

Has anyone made a  purchase of either of these rifles from aimsurplus , and not been happy with them? Or , any other one for that matter.

I'd get one of each.

They are pretty much the same rifle but as cheap as they are you might as well have both.

that's a good plan.  Get them now, they may not be coming back in for a while or at all.  AIM has good deals on both.  A great trunk gun and plinker, and ammo is dirt cheap and they eat up any 7.62x54r that you feed them.  So you're talking 500 rounds of polish/hungarian and the like for $50 maybe?  or less.  can't beat that.

SOG is NOT known for their website.

Half the stuff in their flyer is not on the website.

Call them or something.  At least they are set up for that.

I have the M44.  It's the same as the M38, but with the side folding bayonet.  M44's are generally newer than the M38's with many being in almost unissued condition.

I like the 44s best, no scientific reason - basically I think the side folding bayonet makes the rifle look like a mean SOB.......I like mean guns.
