This pic is of the my new M40A3 built by George Gardner of GA Precision. M40A3 is chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum, with Jewell trigger, Mike Rock 5R 24" barrel with Badger muzzle brake, McMillan A3 stock, Badger base, rings, and Leupold 8.5x25x50 long range target scope with 30mm tube and Premier reticle installed M1 MK4 target turrets. Should be able to smoke Bin Ladens ass at over 1000 yards.

I have one of George's ROCK rifles in .308.  It is a work of art, and shoots like a laser guided missle.  He it a true craftsman. I just need to buy some more of his work before he becomes famous!!

Not that I can afford it right now, but how much was the gun and how much were the mods to the scope?

I have about $2700 in the rifle, $700 in the scope, and the M1 MK4 target turrets were $130 installed by Premier Reticles.  Hey DrewM., now I have a real good reason to go to the range !!!

Great rifle, but it isn't a M40A3.  It maybe a very close facsimile of it, but not the same.

How observant of you to point that out.

Nice looking rig.
I built something like that a few years ago on an A4 without the brake (can't stand them, no need as the rifle weighs 17 lbs.)
What twist on the barrel and have you done any load development yet?

STLRN is correct. My M40A3 is different from the Marine Corps M40A3 because:

1.  My rifle is chambered in .300 Winchester
   Magnum, instead of .308 caliber.
2.  300 Win-Mag shoots around 3200 fps vs.
2600 fps of the .308 caliber
3.  I have a long action reciever, instead of a
   short action.
4.  I used a McMillan A3 internally adjustable
stock, instead of the Corps McMillan
   A4 stock with externally adjustable
   cheek piece.
5.  I don't have to join the Corps to shoot it.

Here is a pic of a USMC M40A3:

I was under the impression the Marine Corps armorers used a Remington long-action made to use short-action ammunition in the event the rifle needed to be converted to .300 Win.Mag.

If so, has that changed?

I'm thinking about throwing that kind of bolt handle on my 40xc, how's it handle so far?  Right now I have an extended round PLASTIC knob that I don't trust, although it feels great in the hand.
