There is a Carbine front sight removal tool---which makes the job somewhat easier---but it can sometimes be done without it.  First, drive the lateral pin out of the sight. Second, drive and/or "pull" (with use of the tool) the front sight off of the barrel and front sight key.  Reinstallation is in reverse, though, you should really use a new key---and be sure to stake the pin when finished.  Sometimes, soaking the front sight in the likes of Kroil, WD40, et. al. can be of help.
