Went to an AR15.com affiliated shoot on Nov 1 in Casa Grande, AZ. Just to be different I took my M1 Garand. After looking at and shooting a few pieces of gee whiz gear it was nice to get behind the good old Garand and hit some targets at 300 yards. I have several more modern rifles, but my M1 did the talking for me that day!

It is a DCM rifle that I originally got about 1993. Being somewhat "homely" I had it set up with NM sights, bedded into a laminated stock, the trigger and gad system tuned and all the metal refinished. Refinish and tuning were done by Arrington Accuracy here in the Phoenix area. The barrel is the original 3-44 unit and she has been good to me for 8 years now.

I have a SuperMatch M1A, but when I shoot it I miss the "ching" after 8 rounds. AR-15's are nice to, but sometimes a real battle rifle is called for.

I agree. I have many other rifles but there's just something about the garand .....
