.338-06 fits 8 rounds, needs only a new barrel, and has the same balistics as the magnums.

ive seen much worse like that chrome plated m1 garand that was on gunbroker 6 months ago or so.

Smart people don't move up to a higher pressure cartridge on a rifle designed for a lower pressure one. I noticed that the author spent a significant amound of word count saying... "this is not a dumb idea, I only cracked one of the locking lugs and it continued to fire without a KB. So it's good." What BS and what a DS.
