Hi Guys.

I've looked and looked and I can't find a no gunsmith, quick detach suppressor for my Bushy xm15 14.5" M4 style AR. You know, the one with the "permanent" izzy style flash suppressor.

I don't have any need beyond something fun. I'd like to find a suppressor that's under $1000.00 in my hand, tax stamp, mount and everything else.

I'd like to shoot bullets around 70 grains or so to keep muzzel velocity down. My barrel is 1/9 twist, so I think they will stabilize.

Your thoughts and recommendations are welcome.

Thanks.

Because you have a 14.5" barrel you have to have a permanently attached muzzle device to bring it out to 16" unless you want to SBR the rifle. I don't know of any suppressors that will attach to your Izzy muzzle brake. You will have to get another muzzle device permanently attached to your barrel. You can do this yourself if you can blind pin/weld or 1100 degree silver solder. Otherwise a gunsmith will have to do it. Most suppressor companies state that their warranties are void if you permanently attach the muzzle device, but it is still done.

Once you ditch the Izzy, you can use any suppressor out there. There are quite a few 5.56 cans that come in under $1,000 with the mount.

it might be better to just swap out the barrel for a pre ban type barrel with a threaded muzzle. Make that a 16" barrel so you dont need to worry about pinning.

Getting into a can with a mount, stamp, and barrel reworked is going to be tough at your 1000 limit. Swapping out the barrel is going to be even more unless you can offset the purchase of the new barrel with sale of the old.

1/9 twist barrels also seem to perform better with lighter bullets (55-62gr).

Piling on here, there are not suppressors that I am aware of that will mount on your izzy brake.
I am not sure what you meant about wanting to shoot heavier bullets to keep the velocity down.  I can't tell a difference in sound between 3100 fps from a 55gr bullet and 2600 fps with a 75 gr bullet.  Additionally, you should definitely confirm whether your 1/9 barrel (some will, while others won't) will stabilize the :>69 gr bullets before investing time/money in it as a suppressor host.
If you intended on shooting subsonic, realize that the rifle will not cycle and you will need a faster twist barrel.

The good news is that you can get a YHM Phantom 556 with a mount, tax stamp for $700 from maj malfunction.  That leaves you $300 to cover the cost of the transfer from your local dealer and to buy a new barrel.

Thanks Guys,

Ryknoll3, Got_Guns, dusten, just a newbie, (as if you couldn't tell), trying to figure things out.

Time for the re-think. I'm not finished, but thanks again!
