I cannot seem to find any starting loads for my 38 in my current manuals.

Most the data I can come up for that weight bullet is in 38 super.

I can find some data for everything except the Pistol Power powder. I like this powder and would like to use it for my 38.

3.0 grains of Bullseye is a nice soft plinking load with that bullet.

Sorry can't help you with the powder you have.

Not finding data ought to be a KEY REASON to look at other powder options.....because if it was a good combo.....there would be data put forth by the powder company.   I would always suggest you have at your disposal on your bench Lyman's Reloading Manual it has loading data for cast lead bullets......

Power Pistol isn't recommended for a light bullet in a low pressure round like a 124grn 38spl.  It works best in high pressure rounds like 9mm, 40s&w, and 10mm especially in the upper charge weights.  It's too slow burning for a light bullet in a pistol but, it used in that application it will produce a gigantic fireball because most of the powder will burn outside the barrel.

I trhink if you put the calipers to that bullet you'll find it's probably .356" or maybe even less.

This is being shot from a Lever Action.

I guess I need a better clean powder for my Marlin.

Ok looking into a new powder that will work with my 38spl and 9mm.

I shoot lead from both and am looking at either Clay or Titegroup.

I can get both pretty easy locally.

I have loaded and shot thousands of 125 grain TC lead bullets for cowboy action shooting.  They are shot in my Rugers and lever action rifles.  My load is 3 grains of Hogdon Clays qnd Winchester SP primers.  They go bang every time

I use fast powders like WW-231, Bullseye and tightgroup for lead bullets in .38 Special.

I reserve Power Pistol for full power jacketed loads in 9mm and .40 S&W.

Well just found a load my Marlin might like...

Bullet: 125gr Hard Cast
Powder: 5gr of Pistol Power
Primer: Winchester Mag PP

For some reason my longer barrel likes this powder.

I might have to lower the charge some as the primer is slightly flatting, but no other pressure signs.

Edit: O yea I can stack the rounds on the target up to 50 feet with this load. I haven't really gone any further with open sights.
