All I have is medium strength. Would this be OK to use, or too strong? Don't want to break the sight if I have to remove it at some point.

Don't use red loctite if you want to remove the part again, especially on brass bead sights which are relatively soft compared to steel. If you do, the sight will have to be drilled out since 271 bonds so damn tight.

242 would be fine.

I use the green stuff I dont know what its # is but it works fine.

This is one of those fiber-optic front sights. They look like they would break pretty easy if I whacked it on something in the middle of the night.

This is my back-up Mossberg, btw. Main SG is a brass beaded, Sure-Fire equipped 870. It'll get night sights one of these days.
