I'm saving up for a .308 can for when I move back to the good states, most likely PA.  In addition to my AR, one of my wife's favorite rifles and mine as well is a Marlin .30-30.  They can be gotten cheap and I'm thinking something that might be fun and inexpensive would be a suppressed .30-30.  They're slim, light, and short, and with a manually operated action it has the potential to be super quiet.  Has anyone threaded one and put a can on it?

Not mine, and I forget the story on it.

HardShell
- find yourself a Ruger 96 - quiet as a bolt gun - only much faster cycling.

I have a buddy with a supressed 96/22.  It's pretty sweet.  I want a suppressed 96/44.

I'll look into that, thanks!

BTW, does that one use the same rotary magazine as the 10/22?

Yup

The lever and bolt versions both use the rotary mag

Isn't it a nearly identical but not quite to the 10/22 mag though?

If they are different it is new to me

I always assumed it was the same mag but have never owned anything except the 10/22's

I saw a browning BLR TAKEDOWN in 308 a month ago at the Boise gunshow that had been cut to 16.5" and threaded. Looked close to ideal for the application except that I am not sure I would call the BLR milspec –– that rack and pinion gear system does not strick me as particularly mud and grime resistant.

Friend of mine in Finland has a suppressed Marlin in .45-70 that he uses for moose hunting...pretty cool.
