Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Letters on front sight base

I have a barrel with no markings, except a b something in a little cirle and an I (or 1). These letters are on the sight base, not the barrel. Do these letters mean anything?

Are the letters stamped or raised? Stamped means it's forged and that's probably the Mfg. markings(I know, duh!) Raised is a casting and the same applies. I have no idea who the Mfg. would be.

Those are just forging-die markings, and do not indicate the manufacturer of the barrel/upper, or even who machined the front sight base.

They identify the forging maker and the cavity of the die they come out of.  They're raised.
