How many of you have gotten that cool hand me down?
My Uncle recently gave me his 1903A3  He served in the USARMY during the Korean War and bought it in 1953 after honorable discharge for 40 bucks !!! He used it for many seasons for hunting and the stock was failing (hairline cracks) so he put a "sporterized" stock on it in the Early 70's. Mid seventies he lost interest in the Sport and it sat in a leather case in his attic for over 30 years. He knows I have been into the sport of shooting for some time and used to borrow his .22 all the time as a teenager. Anyhow I was visiting him as I often do and he offered it to me. I was floored.  I took it home cleaned it up and it is in EXCELLENT shape. Barrel (08-43) and receiver (4019XXX) appear to have been the original pairing. The muzzle and crown appear to be in excellent shape too. I am going to see if I can find a replacement stock for her. I am going to take her out this weekend and tune her up after the GunSmith checks the function and headspace.     So... What cha' think? Hopefully I can pass it on to my Son when he is old enough... EDIT: Typos |

Just given to me by my uncle. Its always been in the family since it was new. I'm the last male family member with children, and the only gun guy.

Got a Waffen marked FN HiPower that my grandpa brought back from Germany. And a 1887 Winchester lever actino shotgun from my uncle. I'll post pics tommorrow

My grandfather gave me his 1911 (1917 Colt civilian model).
 He gave my brother our great-grandfather's Winchester Model 1892 .22, bought by my great-grandfather when he was 12 years old (1912 manufacture if I remember correctly).

Let's see, we've got several garands, 1903's (one of them an A4), a Spencer, a Peabody, an 1892 Marlin .22 lever action, a 1932 Colt 1911 in nickel and a Sauer and Sonne .45LC, bunches of Webleys, a nambu, etc.
Heck I can't count them all! My grandaddy LOVED guns.

My dad gave me his MKIV Series 80 Colt Commander about 10 years ago...Not a C&R but oh well

perimedik - I think cheaper than dirt or sportsman's guide has 1903A3 stock sets for sale.
My heirloom guns: Mossberg 385K 20 gauge bolt action shotgun USGI M1 Carbine (one of the few sold through the DCM, predecessor to the CMP) Winchester Model 67 .22 LR There were other guns owned by my grandfather, but those are the ones I received. |

My great uncle's WWII bring back from the Phillipines: Japanese Arisaka Type 99 all matching except it doesn't have the 4-7/8" cleaning rod and the mum is defaced.
 Is one of my favorite shooters even though ammo is really expensive. ~ISherman |

1903 Colt 38acp...Belonged to my Grandfather, also pictured is his dog tag from WW1.
Passed to me when my father died years ago. Interesting part is that he was shot and killed with this pistol by his second wife, 1932 in Amarillo, Texas. Apparently she got away with it, also have a letter she wrote to my Grandmother explaining.

My grandfather killed himself with my Sauer and Sonne .45LC and it is the same one that I got shot with.

He was stuffing it into the holster with 6 in it.
His beltloop caught the hammer and it "ticked" off the safety position. And BOOM. Through the calf. |

My father's first rifle, a Remington 510. Nickname "pigshooter". Grandpa said he bought him a single shot so the ammo would last longer and there might be some left when it was time to slaugher a pig.
I really like the old Remington bolt action. My father always wanted to put a scope on his to shoot target with, but never had the heart to do it because of sentimental value. After he passed away I didn't want to drill it either, so I picked up anothe 510 and put a scope on it. It's a great shooter for $100.  My first rifle. Anschutz Woodchucker.

Heres one of mine. Its from my papaw to dad and then to me. I think its an unmarked Ketland. .78 cal. flinlock. When I was a kid it had a flint in it but its gone now. Back then we called it "THE PIRATE PISTOL"

okay lol... I'll post mine..
 Smith and Wesson Model 1910 got from my Great Grandfather who used it as his service revolver (changed the grips after the war).  All matching 1912 DWM Luger, with a 1917 holster my Great Uncle got while he was in France during '44.  This odd ball Gew 1888 commission rifle one of my Great Great Uncles lifted out of a captured German bunker during WWI.  I am not sure exactly how this C.96 was captured, I believe my Great Great Uncle found it (with the original stock all shot up) and got ahold of a reproduction shoulder stock after the war. I also have an M44 carbine my grandpa snuck out of Berlin in 1945 and a couple of other Mosin-Nagants that were passed down to me. |

Wow nice guns ya'll got there no guns to be spoken of from my immediate family they're not really into guns i guess. Although my gramps said i could have a new production bp gun he's had for at least 20yrs and never shot i just need to get it from him thats something i guess.....
