in a word, no.
i have a couple of the $100 (plus $60 worth of redfield rear sight on each) remy 513t's that will hold the x-ring better than the kimber 82. matter of fact, i have a winchester 69a match i would shoot against the 82.
for $600 and all that it claims to be, it should shoot better, imo.
neither is it more than a beginner's position rifle. adjustments are clumsy and were necessitated by the military's desire to keep production costs down on a rifle that would be used be used by intermediate level juniors (rotc and jrrotc).
nor is the rifle entirely american made. the sights are rather fragile units from australia.
rather than spend the money on the kimber, i would advise you to invest in a used anschutz, feinwerkbau, walther or weirausch.
in the same intermediate catagory, the anschutz model 1903 will outscore the kimber.
if you do not want to go that high, check out the old winchester 75 match, the winchester 52d (the cmp just sold them for $375 sans sights) or the remington 513t, 541thb, 40x, etc.
i apologise for disagreeing with red-leg, but i really do not care for the performance of the kimber 82. i shoot against several of these in a weekly smallbore 3-position league and their owners score higher when they use one of their other rifles.
as a point of reference, i shoot one of these:
you will not hear me making too many disparaging comments about rimfire match rifles. however, the kimber 82 i will take exception to.
