I remember reading a review some tactical ninja gave about em...he liked them, except for two things:

A) Mud (collected)
B) Rain (collected)

If you aren't putting them on a SHTF rifle, then no worries

They do improve sight picture and make precision shots a bit easier, as I remember...In good weather.

I put the middle example on my Dissipator and like it.
The point about mud is a good one that hadn't crossed my mind before reading it here.
The rain part sounds interesting.  If were collecting rain inside the loop, I think the 'ghost ring' effect would overcome it, as the front sight/rear sight picture works like a ghost ring.
Might have to shake the water off it, too.
That mud thing is haunting me now.

I put one on my FAL and one of my AR's

We don't do rain so we don't have mud. I suppose that mud would screw up the stock AR sight let alone the barrel.

The fine lines allow my old eyes to hold on target better. The large round circle makes finding the front sight faster.

Still I don't change anything functional on a SHTF rifle.

Hey, come to think of it I had these same rifles up in Everett where it rained more then it didn't. Never noticed an issue with water collecting on either.
