Bad part is that we're taking our next assignment in Kalifornia, so I'll have to leave my AXR in my safe in MI until at least August.
Two possibilities for you.
1) You can legally own an AXR in CA in a partially disassembled condition (Since the receiver easily detaches from the stock, it is no longer subject to the AW description as it doesn't accept detachable magazines), and take it across the border to NV or wherever the nearest EBR-friendly-State is. Put it together, and have fun. (Don't bring any 30-rounders into the State though) Until Raddlock came out with their 'bullet button', that was the only way to own an MSAR STG-556 in California. (Now MSARs can be both owned and shot in CA) Unfortunately, the more complicated mag release on the AXR means that an additional modification need be made. That, and you need the minimum 30" OAL before shooting within CA, even with a bullet button, which the shorter AXR barrels do not meet.
2) If your next assignment is a military PCS, you can gain a permit from CA DOJ and bring it along with you.
