Well....i have been wanting one for ages and finally decided to do it.  Yes it costs a lot of money, but wow........  I have not been enthusiastic about the .45 AR options, otherwise I would have done that b/c I love AR's.  Just figured I would do it right and get a dedicated platform for .45       The gemtech UPM can is ordered too.

Anybody here have a civi UMP SBR they can share with me?

Thanks.

My best friend has one converted by HDPS and the Gemtech can. He had some issues with POI shift with the can and had to send it and the can back to Gemtech and they eventualy got it fixed up. Sorry, I don't have any pics of it but it shoots nice.

My HDPS USC-to-UMP conversion is definately one of my favorite toys. I run mine with a C-More Railway red dot and couldn't be happier. Very accurate.....just wish it had a happy switch.

I already had an AAC Evo 45 for my USP 45 tactical, so I had the barrel on my UMP threaded with the same thread. If you do the same, be sure to run the can with a spacer, rather than a spring.

Below is a link to a custom UMP case. Scroll down to the Size 5. It has 5 magazine pockets. I use 4 pockets for magazines, and 1 pocket for my Evo45.

Nice.  I ordered a Gemtech UMP with the HK mount.....so its going to be dedicated.  The C-More is a good option.  I actually have one sitting unused right now from a pistol....so its either going to be it or an EOtech XPS

I have a HDPS Conversion I purchased direct from Ed. It's hands down my favorite gun! Like others, I purchased a Gemtech UMP can. It's quite impressive...as long as you're not the shooter as your ear is right next to the ejection port. I can fire 15 rounds suppressed, and my hearing will be a bit fuzzy for a few minutes. But if you're standing back, all you can hear is the action and the bullet hitting whatever you're shooting at. It's a great combination!

You won't be disappointed! I'm not sure if your UMP will come with a grip (and associated rail). If not, I really like the LaRue FUG:

http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=209

It's expensive, but fits my hand beautifully using the smallest endcap.

I also had a devil of a time removing my Gemtech UMP suppressor. The trick is to point the gun upwards, release the latch to let the suppressor spring up slightly, and then grip the suppressor at the bottom and pull straight up. If you grab near the top, chances are you'll tlt the suppressor just slightly, causing it to snag against the barrel. I also had problems getting the suppressor on for the first time. My gunsmith actually hammered that latch in with a wooden dowel. But after a few tries, the suppressor latch loosened up nicely.

Once you see Ed's UMP45, you'll want one of his G36's. I have a G36K from him, and the quality is just as good!

I like the tango down stubby on my USC/UMP conversion. They are awesome, although mine is a little less "classical". The UMP grip/lower and a better stock makes a HUGE difference in how the gun shoots and feels! (I made my own custom Ar15 stock adaptor/stock block for mine, just getting the buffer tube hole threaded, then paint her up and its done )

Gotta get in before anyone else and say, the USC/UMP sucks!  You should have bought a MP5 clone.  Now, with that out of the way, here's my babies...

Congrats on the new toy. I'm sure you'll love it. If I weren't blowing all my money on host guns, I'm sure I'd try to get one. They are indeed expensive but everyone who has one seems to love it.

Where'd you get the Flash Suppressor?

I'm going to start finishing mine this fall. I'm leaning towards going threaded over the flange, but want something decent looking over the threads. I could only find those funny looking votex style FS's in .45 and would want something that looked like the 'real' UMP FS.

Anyone know where to get a stock that's a couple inches shorter? That's my ONLY hang up with this weapon!

SBR'ing this guy soon.

Im not sure if it would work but the B and T mp5 stock looks like it would be shorter. If you bought the mp5 stock you might be able to take the stock part off and put it on your ump. not sure if the the stock part is the same. I have the B and T folder on my ca89k, I also have the B and T mp5 folder for my ca53ar. It is a little shorter then the stock that is on the k model. I have heard there are two different models for the mp5 a long one and a short one, just make sure you get the short one.

Nope, It folds to the left side, not the right like the factory stock.  Plus it locks in the closed position.

And it looks like tits on a bullfrog.. I mean a shorter version of the real stock.

There is no shorter version of a real stock that I found.

I did the block C with the AK type stock and had that cut down to 7" giving me a very nice short lop.

It is not original but does not look as out of place and clears the port folding right.  Also 1 more US part.

This was before I wrapped the upper part of the stock in paracord which ads more comfort and keeps you from burning your face when out in direct sun for a while.

DARN!!! why did I find this thread!
OK so lay it on me how much is expensive ? The state of NC just decided to send me my return check FINALLY... I have been eyeing up the USC for about a year now but I have hesitated. Looking for a new toy and it's between that and a P90.

So where can I do some fast research and learn about these ? I am good to go with SBR's, just picked up my first supressor today and am waiting for my stamp on the Krink and an AR lower. Getting ready to make a MP5 clone and this would round out a nice little collection.

Come on..is it THAT expensive? An MP5 or a sear pack to me is EXPENSIVE...can't see one of these as expensive as a sear pack! Question is yes, these are cool and nice but for an NFA friendly state is it worth the cost or is something like a MAC a bit better for someone without the ability to Rock and Roll ? If one of these conversions run over $3K then yes...can't see buying one if I don't have at least one FA play toy and the MAC I think is the cheapest I can get away with.

Last time I checked I could find a host for the modification for about $1200, are the mods and parts more than an extra $1,000? Everyone has different terms for "expensive" $2,200 is not that expensive to me when I place the cool factor next to some of these 1911's I see for sale not to mention SCARS, FS2000's and bone stock PS90's. It's a lot of cash but what is the next step up in cool factor in price ? A MAC is close but that's low end quality, an ACC556 at $6K ? that's a big jump... Make every shot count, quality vs. quantity for some of us and a USP-UMP conversion is quality, cool, and just fine if you don't NEED to be doing mag dumps every weekend

Yeah, it is in one go at times. I mitigated that by just watching the EE for parts and jumping on deals.

If you buy a new black USC your talking $1400 (buds, cdnn)  just shopping best retail price no auction hunting.

If you buy the parts from HDPS for all the rest it is up to you on how much you spend. He runs a package listed on his site for $1375 plus or minus the parts you want to change.

http://www.hdps.org/htm/5-3-1.htm

With the USC and the combo all you'll need to do is open up the upper receiver for the high capacity magazines unless you want vents cuts in the front hand guard.

Rails are $125 and buying extra mags is about $55-70 each depending on where you get them plus you'll need compliance parts for them $11 floor plate $22 follower depending on if you need 1 or two parts given the rest of your parts count.

If you didn't want to part hunt and just wanted to order a new USC and the conversion parts your looking at ~$2800.

You can do better if you part hunt but it can take a while.

Good luck.

SV thank's for the insight..yea it's expensive but it is nice. Question is do I want one THAT bad instead of something like a MAC-10 with a couple of uppers which would give me a lot of fun times. Price would not be all that much different and allow me the ability to buy a 9mm upper and a 22lr upper and have 3 calibers of Full Auto fun along with some rather nice quality uppers. Yes a lot of people look down on MAC's but they are the most fun for your buck that you can get AND with some quality aftermarket uppers the overall gun is actually quite good.

F22––+1 I like the look NICE

Spade,

Sorry for the super delay...duty called.  The two grey ones are threaded 5/8x24.  The FH can be found here.

My USC hasn't had so much as a single misfeed, but I have only put maybe 400 rounds through it so far.

They are blowback, so as long as the bolt goes all the way forwards, its going to shoot the ammo. It doesn't even HAVE to make the bolt go back all the way, as long as it goes back far enough to strip the next round it'll work fine.

Yes.

It will cost you a lot though. You just need the bolt, barrel, and mags. Barrel and mags are pretty easy, IIRC. Bolts are a bitch to find and expensive when you do.

ETA: With how easy it is to convert from caliber to caliber i'm baffled as to why HK doesn't offer a .40 and 9mm USC.

I am looking into buying a USC/UMP conversion and wanted to know if anyone had one in 40S&W. My primary question is, does 40S&W 180gr fmj remain subsonic? If I build one, I will likely be running it suppressed a majority of the time, so if all my 180gr fmj runs supersonic, I would rather stay with 45 which will always remain subsonic. I know I could load up 200gr 40 S&W but I would prefer not to go that route. Thanks!
