Okay, I just formed a trust recently and then paid for a Silencerco Spectre II at my local gun shop. Of course I have to wait until it comes in to submit my form 4 and trust to BATF. I intend to mount the suppressor to my Sig 522, but also on a pistol. Can those of you have own the Spectre make any good suggestions for a good host gun? Also, how do you like the Spectre? Thanks in advance!

I have a Spectre II and love it so far, but I've only been able to use it a handful of time so far and only on a Walther P22.

I want to get a rifle with a threaded barrel for it.  How do you like your Sig 522?

Savage fv-sr bolt gun even though I assume you only asked about pistols which are listed below.

Ruger 22/45 lite
S&W M&P 22 (compact or full size)
GSG 1911 .22

I've had the 522 for about 5 years and it's a GREAT rifle. Reliable as a claw hammer even with crappy rounds. I have only used Black Dog magazines. It's definitely a fun plinker.

The Spectre II is a great suppressor. It will run well on any popular 22LR handgun. I like the Ruger 22/45 series, but any of the center-fire clone guns (M&P22, 1911-22s, etc) will also perform well with the suppressor.

For a rifle, consider a bolt gun if you don't have one. 22LR bolt rifles with subsonic ammo are hilariously quiet. I like the Savage MKII for a rifle host.

You know, I don't even have a .22 bolt gun. Now I have to look into that!

I'll have take a look at one in person.  A .22 bolt gun is something else I need to look at.

If you like M&Ps I highly recommend the M&P22 pistol.  If  you don't, try the Ruger Mk series or the Browning Buckmark.

Ditto on the Ruger 22/45.   But I've been a ruger 22 fanboy for a very long time so my opinion is very biased.  YMMV.

Another vote for the 22/45.

I too just bought a Spectre (in jail hopefully for not too much longer) and have a Savage Mark II FV-SR that I can't wait to try with it.

I have several 22 cans. I have ANOTHER Spectre in jail. I like it that much. I would second either the runger 22/45 series or SW MP22.
Like other said, a bolt gun is required. You will giggle like a school girl the first time you shoot a bolt gun with the Spectre and subs.
The Savage is a great choice. Look into the Ruger American Rimfire as well

I'm a Buckmark guy, but I've heard good results from the Ruger.

Plainly put, get a Savage or 10/22 as well. Promise there will be zero disappointment. Especially with 25rnd mags.

I have the following:

Ruger 22/44 lite - For a suppressed 22 pistol I cannot conceive how it could get any better than this.
Ruger American Rimfire - Amazing accuracy for the price and extremely quiet.

Could not be any happier with my hosts, although I am sure there are many other outstanding options as well.

For pistol cans, I have the 22/45, the GSG 1911, the M&P Compact and the PPQ .22. The GSG has given me some grief, but the other three have been rock solid. It's all in what your after. If you are looking for the most accuracy, then I would go with the 22/45. If you want something fullsize and fun, I really like the PPQ. The M&P .22 compact is good if you have a Shield or M&P centerfire compact where training would carry over. If you want something different, check out the S&W 422, 622, 2213 or 2214

Advantage Arms .22LR slide on your choice of Glock frame.

If you drink Glock koolaid, that is.

Best price on an AA slide?

I'll back up the .22 bolt gun.  Stupid quiet with subs.

I've run my Warlock, Warlock II and Spectre II on a Browning Buckmark.  With the correct barrel, its a fine host.

I switch mine between a Sig 522, 22/45, Advantage Arms Glock and dedicated CMMG 22. They all work great, but you"ll need a spacer for the Sig, because the threads are to long.

Like everyone else has said, it will work great on just about any 22 pistol or rifle. Some of the firearms that I have used my spectre II on are

22/45
M&P22
SR22
ATI1911
10/22
Marlin795
MP15/22
Savage MKII

You will love that can-I do!

I had mine done at Tornado Tech.  They're right up the street from me.

I'm not sure they're still doing Buckmarks though.

I use my Spectre II on a Ruger 22/45 Lite and a Savage Mark II FVSR.  Both are great hosts and the can is super quiet on a bolt action with standard velocity ammo.

My two primary hosts are a Savage FV-SR and my Sig P226 with a threaded 22lr upper.  The Sig conversion kits are pretty nice  and suppress well if you already have a Sig....

I bought a Spectre II for my 22 K-Hornet.  I wanted a light weight ground squirrel rifle that would reach out to 200 yards.  I also had my Ruger Mak II threaded and bought a Savage FV-SR.  It's a great can and I'd like to pick up a second in the future.

The M&P is just easier to take down and clean. I don't find the 22/45 to have any qualities that really make it better than the S&W other than more aftermarket parts.

Could have bought a Manners and paid twice what you paid for the gun.    I've got two rifles that need stocks by the time ground squirrels come out in the spring.  Boyd's will be getting my business soon as well.

Is the suppressor cover just for looks? I can't imagine that heat would be an issue with a bolt action .22 rifle.

You need a 17 HMR also.

I have the M&P pistol and think its great.
and a Savage 22 bolt and 17 HMR bolt.  Both awesome.
