Deer Hunter, a 30-second television commercial for the Jeep brand of sports
utility vehicles, was created to show the attributes of the Jeep vehicles; their
off-road capability, ruggedness, and their ability to carry large loads with
ease.

It is our belief that the ad does this very effectively, and in a fun,
tongue-in-cheek style that Jeeps commercials are known for. Unfortunately, some
viewers have missed the positive product messages and instead, seen negative
messages that were not intended.

This misunderstanding is unfortunate since it was never our intention to
denigrate hunters or hunting. After all, hunting is as much a part of the
American fabric as Jeep vehicles.  Additionally, we respect those groups to
which hunters belong.  While we stand by the creative intent of Deer Hunter, we
are also sensitive to hunters who find the ad objectionable.

Chrysler Group apologizes to anyone who was offended by the Deer Hunter ad.  In
the same way that we encourage motorists to drive safely, Chrysler Group
supports the right of all individuals to hunt responsibly.
