Gentlemen, I must asked a couple of questions to you guys that have more experience with the H&k firearms as i have some major problems with my BW5. After about 14-1500 rounds of fairly reliable shooting the Bobcat started experiencing some ejection problems. The spent brass would ether stove pipe in the ejection port or find them selfs being discarded inside the lower receiver just behind the mag well. If that was not enough, i started observing light primer strikes and the gun would fail to shoot after several attemps to fire the gun.

All information would be nice to correct this problem, Thanks....

Was this 1500 rounds shot in one firing session or total rounds through the gun since you've had it?
More info please.

Most likely, you simply need a new extractor spring. You can find them for less than $10 shipped. The extractor spring is the little silver or copper colored spring that you see on the bolt when you look into the ejection port. When they get weak, you start experiencing FTEs like you describe.

It could also be a bolt gap problem, but most likely just a weak extractor spring. You can try to remove it and bend it back into shape.

To remove, use a small punch, or a dental pic, or anything that will grab the rounded part of the spring. Rotate the spring 180 degress, and slide it out. Bend it and reinsert it.

To install, line up the spring the way it should go, and push it into the bolt. Sometimes it helps t roll teh bolt forward on something hard to get the spring back into the slot where it belongs.

The round count of 1500 rounds is over a two year time period. Generally i would shoot 150 to 250 rounds during range shooting per trip and usually get around one or two ejection problems per 100 -120 rounds fired. ejection problems became a non issue after aquiring some decent POF or H&K factory new magizines.

I will research and see if a can get the original MP5 extractor springs, I understand they are made from better materials and last past the 8-10 k mark. Thanks. Elf

I would like more info..

What Ammo were you shooting??

How many times did you clean this Bobcat during these 1400 or 1500 rounds of ammo??

But then again your extractor might be going south!!
