Does this look like a last ditch or a good deal at almost $180?
"It has the number 66560 between two strange looking charcters on the barrel close to the lock." Other than that he doesnt know much. Looks nice, its in state with me, maybe I can just pick it up and save anohter $50. Ends in 7 hours

Last ditch has fixed sights.
Mine has fixed sights, knurled safety, and a strong sharp mum on top of the breech. |

Last ditch also has a wood butt plate, nailed in place, IIRC......

No, the wood is too nice, the bolt handle is too large, the butt plate is there, the finish looks like it was done with someone with a clue, the rear sight should be fixed and the front sight has the protective wings on this one.
Not even close. |

Good buy then? I just bought it. Now to see if he will let me pick it up, or if he insists on sending it to an FFL.

Not a bad deal by any means. If the mum is there that would be nice. They really are good rifles.

Well now I'm going to have to reload also. So, didnt see any FAQs around here, but I didn't look hard.
 I need what? Dies ($30) Single press thing ($30) Casings ($30 for 50 or so) Primers (no clue) Bullets (no clue) Powder (no clue) GOOD scale (no clue) and uh? Forgeting anything besides load info, how too books and a good insurance plan? Is 7.7 a straight forward ammo to start out with? |

If the receiver and barrel look like they were made from rusted sewer pipe it would be a "last-ditch" rifle. This one looks too nice from the pics.
I ran across a pretty good looking Arisaka at this weekend's funshow for about $180-190. It still had the mumm intact. Bought a new Weatherby last weekend for hunting, so, unfortunatley, I didn't have the budget for another.
