I am just starting to check into getting a can. Mostly it will be used on a 10/22, but I actually know very little about them.

Is it possible to use one designed for a .223 that works well? Is there a huge cost or effectiveness differential by doing this?

Can anyone recommend some manufacturers that I should consider? As you can see I am just at the beginning of the education process and don't know much about them.

Many thanks

You can shoot .22LR through a .223 suppressor (as both are .224" bullets), but do NOT shoot .223 through a .22LR suppressor as it will not stand up to the higher pressure.

A .223 suppressor will be about 6 times heavier than a .22LR suppressor. I used my 23-ounce steel SRT Hurricane .223 suppressor on my Ruger 77/22 while I was waiting for my 3-ounce aluminum AAC Pilot .22LR suppressor's paperwork to clear.
