This topic maybe somewhere but I couldn't find it. I just recieved my tax stamp (3 months) and I have a question regarding the engraving. Can I use my initials of my name or do I need to put a first and last name or do I need to put my full name?
Thanks

You can use initials for your first and middle name, but I would use your full last name.
Example:

J D Smith

                           Anytown, TN
I guess since you waited until after you got the stamp, you are going to have someone local do it?  Make sure they have experience engraving firearms.  I have seen some crappy stuff come out of trophy shops, and the like.

+1...

First initial and possibly middle initial would be fine...  But you must have a full last name such as the example.  I went with first initial and last name...

F. Smith
Anywhere, MN

What Form 1 information are you talking about?

ATF Form 1 (5320.1), Line 4 h. Additional Description (Include all numbers and other identifying data whuch will appear on the firearm).

This is where I put the exact engeraved identification before submitting for CLEO and the the feds.

How can you get approval without this filled in AND have same exact info engraved on the firearm?

I had my AR15 lower laser engraved:

 R.U. SOMEONE  ANYTOWN, AZ

I had it done in a font so that it fit on one line just above the lower edge of the magwell RH side, This looks good and if I get it blackened in it will be fairly discreet.

It happens all the time.  Many people leave Box 4h blank.  Apparently, it is not that big a deal.

by law, you have to engrave the firearm - regardless of if 4H is filled in or not.  If 4H is blank, it is assumed that you will engrave the legal requirements.   If you fill in 4H, the BATFE will verify what you want to engrave is correct.

So, dont put any darned engraving in 4H !

Perhaps I should sen a passport photo of the engraved receiver instead of my mug?  (kidding guys)

Spoke with the ATF today. They indicated they want first and middle initial and the full last name including any suffixes such as Jr., III, etc.
