Are .50 cal's Class III's? Are the AR-50's a good starter .50 cal?  Or should I get like a Serbu?

Anything I need to know before I try and buy one?

Thanks

So I can get my gun shop to call Armalite and get them to send a Ar-50 to my gun shop and I can throw down the 2500 and take it home?

That is the required route at this time and subject to change at the whim of the Jack Booted Thugs, oh I mean the BATF.
I have seen at least 3 go thru my local gun shop in the last year. They are one mean looking mother. Myself, I have been looking at the Ferret50 upper for one of my lonesome AR lowers. The $1000 difference will buy a lot of ammo.

Vermilion,
I would suggest you contact "AROCK" a member and Moderator here on AR15.com.  The Rock finished 4th (I believe) in national competition shooting a stock ArmaLite AR-50.  (That's about like finishing 4th in the Daytona running a stock Ford !)

Before you buy one or the other you need to look at both.  You won't touch a Serbu.

AROCK is the man.  We almost had a chance to shoot it last time at ETH's farm.

I never can buy this toy, can't fit into the safe.

Can't fit in the safe, what are you talking about.  It easily fits in a safe.  See that tiny green AR50 in the picture below...

Actually, I'm changing the layout of the safe soon, and will have the entire left side open so it will fit better.  That plus it will be able to fit my 1919.

7, your fricking safe is 1/3 bigger than mine.
Besides, I have a lot of toys in there; that's why I said it won't fit.  I guess, another safe will solve the problem, huh?

The AR-50's are sweet.  My safe is like 6" to short for it.  Thats not whats stopping me from buying it.  I really want one but $2500, ouch!  I will eventually get a .50, hopefully before they are banned.  I've had a hard time trying to decide between the AR-50, Barret M99, and possibly the Robar 50.  I would kind of like the 50 to have the look of a traditional rifle.  I just put some money down on a .338RUM and hopefully that will settle the urge for a "big gun" for a little while.  I wish remington would make a .50!

I've got my own "big gun" urge !

Been vacillating for weeks over whether to get ArmaLite's new AR-30 in .300 WinMag or .338 Laupa.  This week I'm leaning toward the .300 WinMag.

NOOOOOOOO, dont get the 300 win mag.  You can have that in just about any rifle.  Now the .338 Lapua is something special :)

I'm saving up for a McMillian 50 or a Robar.
