What is the best way to acquire one, I know nothing about these part kits and stuff. I can only have semi auto, but they still look like a lot of fun. Somebody give me some info or links please.

I can't tell you much about the semis, but 1919's in general are very sturdy weapons. Honestly, I don't know that one in semi would be all that much fun though. If you can somehow finance a full auto, do it. They are still relatively cheap (compared to other full auto beltfeds), they're almost too much fun (In full), and they'll be a far better investment than a semi.

There were some ads in SGN recently for full autos (from DLO, I think)that ran about $10,000.

If that's a little too much, there's a fantastic hand crank for semis that allows close to full auto rate of fire. See the review here at 1919a4.com.

i saw one at a gun show a couple days back going for 4 grand for semi and 9 grand full auto but didnt have the cash to spend

I own an Ohio Rapid Fire 1919A4, it is a blast to shoot. No full auto, but you can rattle off a can of 225 rounds in no time at all. A nice spade makes it even more fun.

Go to 1919A4.com for lots of information. Price? $1500.00-1750.00 can get you a gun, links, Bren tripod and adaptor, linker and maybe a spade. You have to shop carefully and watch for specials. Thats a far cry from the $10,000-15,000 for a full auto.

Stay the hell away from anything HESSE, they are junk. The design fails in a few hundred rounds.

I've also got a Rapid Fire 1919a4, it's a hoot. If you're looking for a semi 1919, I'd have no problem recommending Ohio Rapid Fire.

Hopefully if everything goes right I'll be ordering an ORF gun Tuesday! Can't wait! One thing I've noticed it alot of 1919 stuff is expensive. So you might pay 2k for a gun, but add on links, link loader, belts, belt loader, tripod, (if your like me) vechicle pedistal mount, cradle, spade grips, and I'm sure alot more things to come. <sigh> I need a cheaper hobby.

SOmeone has them in SA for <$900 in SGN this month.

Avoid Lee Tool sear and disconnector. Poor durability.

They ARE a lot of fun!! Reliable and built like a tank. BArrels and stops for 30.06, 3.08 and my favorite, 8mm. My FA Post MAy Sample eatts nasty old Turk for lunch! Cheap at around a nickle a round.

How about using M-13 links; they are dirt cheap!

That's JoeKen, selling Hesse/Vulcan builds. That's also their 10+ quantity price, their single price is $1050.
If there's one to stay away from, it's the Hesse.

I didn't read the ad - glad you pointed that out!!

I have assembled a number of these for friends and built some FA dealer samples. Hard work. One of my partners has a SA for sale - need to ask him how much. & no, it ain't no damn Hesse!

The big problem with Hesse 1919's

The semi bolt guts self destructed after about 500 rounds. The design has the sear plate hitting the buffer taking the full force of the bolt mass, other semi designs have the semi parts recest and the bolt body hits buffer only.
So the basically the $ 300 I save buying the Hesse will be used to buy a new bolt and semi trigger kit .....
