Try this:
Honey, I was thinking of blowing $5,000 on a high-priced call girl, but I went and bought a $500 rifle instead. Or some variation of the "it was either this or hookers and blow" line.

Whenever, the BBToH shows up with a long box I just say,
"I told those people to stop just sending me guns I didn't order! I guess I'll have to give them a call again. Damn Gun-of-the-Month club, it's great until you try to cancel your membership, they always fuck these things up."
