Is there a good powder that performs well (near maximum ) in both.

I would like to just buy 1 type of powder

I should add that my loading will probably be limited to 20 to 40 rounds per sitting.   I plan on measuring each powder load on my RBCS electronic scale.  Long stick powder isn't going to be an issue

IMR-4064 will work great for both, however, it is one of he course extruded powders that does not meter well at all.

I use 52.0 grains of H-4350 in 8mm Mauser and 175 grain Sierra Pro-Hunter bullets. Remington brass and Remington 9.5 primers.

You can use IMR-4350 in bolt action .308's when loading heavy bullets. 190 or 200 grain Sierra Match Kings short very well with this powder in Winchester commercial brass.
