I am very interested in this thermal but there is little to no information out there regarding this device. Most everything i have seen is that it is a disappointment and that the "zero shot zeroing" is a pain in the ass like the clip on modes in their other units. I would like to know from anyone with hands-on experience if this is the case. I already have a Reap-IR and love it but I am looking for a thermal clip-on to compliment the Reap-IR.

Anyone with experience with the Snipe-Ir, I would appreciate your input on its pros/cons.

I have one and like it a lot. The zero shot zero seems to work fine.

I got it for 15% off so I got a good deal.

When zeroing are you simply overlaying the thermal reticle with your day optics reticle and then confirming on paper? What kind of optic are you using with your Snipe-Ir? More than likely mine will be used with a 4x ACOG.

The original SNIPE had some firmware zeroing issues, but it's been fixed. We have one in our rental pool that had the original firmware and has since been updated with the new firmware.  It is much easier to zero than before. I still prefer the REAP-IR when possible, but the SNIPE-IR will out perform any other 9k clip-on for sure. Rental fee applies to purchase if you want to try before you buy. Feel free to call us any time.

When did they start shipping out these updated firmware units?

Can anybody shed some light on how you zero the Snipe-IR?

There are two ways to sight in. Bench mode and live fire. I always use live fire. When prompted you align a duplex with your day optic, and then when prompted again a second duplex to set your zoom center.

How good is the DLOC when re-attaching the thermal? Can you zero it in the field without live fire or bench mode? If I were to buy one I would be attaching it in the field after an afternoon hunt when the sun goes down so its got to be able to keep its zero without any kind of prolonged sighting in process.

Essentially, I am looking to see if this is as easy as it is, or close enough, as it is with a PVS-24. I just plop my PVS 24 on a rifle and its good to go. I dont want to have to have a dedicated rifle for a clip on. I think that kinda defeats the purpose of a clip on system.
