Got this mag in a box of mags. I'm pretty sure it's HK and it is probably 40 rounds. No markings on the aluminum body. There's a date of 6/1/78 on the black plastic follower. Spotwelded down the back and front seams.
Also, what's it worth? I don't have any HK 223's so I'm probably looking to peddle it off once I know what it is.

HK 40rd aluminum, Vector Arms sells them for $40 each ($35ea for 10 or more). I have several and they work fine.

HK53......I picked up a few mags at local dealer for $25 each and sold them for $40
