About 17" +/- considering muzzle device variances. If you're asking about how much to add to the lower to do an OAL on a Form 1, just write in 29.5" in the box. I think an upper receiver is about 7" bare.

Thanks LMTRocks. Actualy, I want to be able to break the rifle down and put it in my laptop case, just slightly over 16" wide. ( DAMN! So close.) I origionaly wanted a 7.5 " upper, but after talking to people in the suppressor forum, I found out that trying to run a suppressor on that short of a barrell is a bad idea. So my next thought was a 10.5, but then I loose the ability ( maybe) to put it in my laptop case. Thanks again for the info.

I just ordered a 31" Bulldog case from Optics Planet and that will hold my entire 27.75" long 10.5" barreled upper and YHM 30cal QD mount. Vltor modstock is 1" shorter than my Sopmod so the weapon maintains a compact profile. The only time I'd do a suppressor on a 7.5 is if its a 22cal and there isn't much powder blasting the blast baffle either. I also used a Wilson tennis racket bag from Walmart that was $15 so consider that. Can still fit a 10rd mag in that bag
