Paid 1600 for a 1 owner SP-1.  Unfired. Bolt unflawed. Made 1982.  All original parts. Also came with 1 Colt 20 rd Mag, and the factory booklet, and tactical case.  Saw some nice ones for 1,200 to 1,300, but the unfired one clinched it.  Sure wish I had bought a few in 1982!!

Personally... I would not spend $1600 on a SP-1.  However, if having an unfired collector is important to you, then by all means, a good deal.

All my rifles are shooters.  I got my SP-1 in fair-good condition (then replaced the beat up upper with a mint one I found here) for $900 locally.

I typically see them for $1200 at the shows, so if unfired was important to you, I'd say you did allright.

You might be interested to know that I paid 499.95 for my SP-1 new in 1982 from a gunstore in New Jersey. It sure seemed like alot of bucks to me back then! Wish I had bought a half-a-dozen of 'em. It has performed nearly flawlessly since then and still looks brand new.
Well, good luck with it and enjoy. If it's any consolation, I would've paid 1600 for it too.

You paid a little on the high side, but if you plan on keeping it for a while...you'll be fine.

The value will only go up.

Unless the AW ban is allowed to sunset without a replacement.  In which case pre-bans will, IMO, become a lot cheaper.

Of course, if it's re-enacted, I think $1600 will prove to be a real good deal.

Once the ban sunsets, his rifle will still be worth more than new production stuff because of what it is, an orginal unfired Colt SP1.  These will never be made again, and regardless of what you or I thik of Colt, this rifle will hold it's value because it is a Colt, and it is 20 years old.  None of rifles made today will ever be worth anything special, just because there are too many of them being made.

Now I would never make a purchase like this because I shoot everything I own, and I am not interested in collecting.

I sold my SP1 carbine for 1600.  it had about five hundred rounds on it, and I packaged it with two Colt 20 rounds magazines.  I figure you did okay for the price you apid for a unfired SP1

You are happy and that is all that matters.  The prices seem to be constantly changing.  For your like new rifle I think you did pretty well.
