Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - How can you find the barrel twist

I am unsure of the twist in my AR barrel.  Whats a way to find out.

Put a tight fitting patch on a cleaning rod. Tape a flag of tape to the cleaning rod (which will be well outside the barrel).

Insert the patched cleaning rod and measure the distance with a nearby ruler that it takes the tape flag to make one complete revolution.

Most AR barrel twists are stamped on the barrel just ahead of the front sight fixture. Or at least Colt's are. >gg<  Your mileage may vary.
