Thanks Brou, Is it possible that this rifle was made with no bayonet lug or did some one remove it?

If the serial number is pre-ban, then it is. There was a short time when Colt made rifles with the comp/flash-hider, but no bayonet lug. This was a concession to the anti-gunners back around 1989-90. Hope this helps. |

I am not positive about this but I think that all Colt's that have the name "sporter" dont have the Bayo lug.

According to Gun Trader's Guide, that was made 1992-1994. The one pictured does have a bayonet lug though. This may or may not be accurate, serial # is the only way to know for sure.

I have a Sporter Target 6551 With no bayo lug but does have flash hider. ST038100 and Below are preban. This site is informative
