I found a Colt Sporter Competition HBar with a serial number of 015407. It has a flash suppressor but no bayonet lug. Is it post or preban? Thanks

I believe it's a pre-ban, but since I don't have the whole serial # and you do, check this site: www.geocities.com/Pipeline/2494/serial.html

Thanks Brou, Is it possible that this rifle was made with no bayonet lug or did some one remove it?

errol:

If the serial number is pre-ban, then it is. There was a short time when Colt made rifles with the comp/flash-hider, but no bayonet lug. This was a concession to the anti-gunners back around 1989-90. Hope this helps.

I am not positive about this but I think that all Colt's that have the name "sporter" dont have the Bayo lug.

According to Gun Trader's Guide, that was made 1992-1994. The one pictured does have a bayonet lug though. This may or may not be accurate, serial # is the only way to know for sure.
