I have acquired a family heirloom Browning A5 - it's at maybe 90-95% - bore is at 100%

No one knows when it was made as it was Grandpa's, and he's been gone for a number of years now. My butthead non-shooter brother kept it, fortunately wrapped in a gun sock, so no rust/deterioration.

Can anyone provide a heads-up where I can find the year of manufacture?

the SN is X328xx

yes, that's an X in front of the SN.

All the screws and barrel match the SN, it has an FN hallmark immediately above the SN, which is located above the feeding port on the bottom.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The SN doesn't match what's listed on the page, insofar as data structure.

S'ok tho.

I had a reliable source date it at 1949.

This just might be worth something...

Thanks for the reply.
