They're "digital" and useless without a powerful illuminator.

OK thanks for the info. They are built to look like a PVS-14 externally but internally completely different. Not as rugged, not waterproof and not as compatible as the real thing. Still they do see in the dark. Just don't pay more then $200 for one.

If you wanted to try a digital scope that had some performance, at even less cost than the PVS-14 knockoff, I'd probably go for the XGen 2.1x viewer. You can find them for about $50 to $100 dollars.
