Awhile back I obtained a late Chantilly Import HK91 in desert camo.  Yeah, the rifle was rare, but I could't stand the baby poop Camo.

This late model 91 was one of the nicest HK's I had ever seen.  The quality of the welds, and some of the upgrades make the late HK91's the nicest ever built.  Some would be disgusted that I had a rifle, one in about 150 41-serial prefix HK chopped and refinished, but I know what I want, and I made the other ones out there a little more rare.

I sent it to Big50 when he first started his own smithing biz instead of working as a sub for some of the other smiths.  Needless to say, he was overwhelmed with the response as hundreds of guns flooded the gates as people are just plain tired of the same old 2 year wait from Dyer, Urbach, RDTS.  So all in all it took much longer to get my gun done than Mark had quoted.  However, the wait was well worth it.  Mark went around and undercut all of the other HK smiths on prices.

As some of you know I recently had Jayson@IGF do a 33K for me.  The finish on these two are different.  The IGF build has a glossier old school HK finish on it while the big50 build has a beautiful satin finish of the current HK guns.  Both are bullet proof finishes.  Both are bake on finishes over fresh park.  The big50 finish is the most attractive EBR finish I have seen.  

The 33K is SBR'ed and the G3K has a long 53 style flash hider on it to make it 16".



Here is a close up of the nice sling stud work done.  This is a mark of a quality job as most builders throw a big old blob of weld onto the stud.  The cut down cocking tube retains the tapered front end to free float the barrel, also the mark of a quality build.  Alot of builders might just cut the tube and mount the straight end into the triple frame.



I sent Mark a HK21 cocking handle as one of my pet peeves is grabbing that stiff little handle.  Mark welded it up and machined it to work in the G3K.  However, I will have to mill out a small piece out of the top of the handguard as it prevents it from lying flat.  The longer larger handle is easier to grab and the increased length adds leverage making unlocking a breeze.  



Of course, why go through all this trouble if you are not going to remark the gun G3K?  This is a beautiful remark.  It looks absolutely factory and will compliment the gun once the final piece is in place.  The auto sear (which I do not have yet).

I can't tell you how happy I am with this work.  This is some of the finest I have ever seen and surely is as good or better than Urbach, Dyer and RDTS without the BS and bank busting cost.  I would suggest anyone who is thinking about getting HK, FAL, AK work done to give Mark a shot.  You will not be sorry.

The handguard venting and the clip and pin job were done by Mike@Total Sharp Co. to my specs.  Normally he does double row venting, but I like the way this looks better.  You can get a hold of him by emai:l [email protected] He will either vent your forearm or sell you one.

I am having a problem getting an inch receiver for the FN, I am assured by 2 manufacturers that it will not be long.  I am also looking into having a replica C1 receiver made from an Imbel.  All markings will be correct for the C1.

Get on down here to Texas....its paradise.  I aint shitting on Canada, but I fit in better down here and every aspect of life is better.  I do miss the pristine maple and pine forests though.

Fixed your IMG. Both are fuckin' sweet! But I gotta bust ya - there's no attachment screw on that EOTech. I love the markings though - did you use a China pen to fill them in?

All these people are putting together these sweet rifles, I'm gonna have to build 4 more just so I can play with all the new toys that are available!

How much was the clip & pin job?  Did you provide your own lower?  If you don't mind me asking what did the entire setup cost you?  I have a HK-91 that I was going to send out for refinishing but after seeing your K conversion I'm seriously considering it instead.  What was the turnaround time?

Doc, The attachment screw on the 552 is recessed.  That hole you see is in the protective hood to allow access to the allen screw to attach it to the rail.

Mark charges (not 100% sure) $50 for clip and pin.  This lower was done by Mike @ TSCO.

If you want a similar rifle at half the price, Arizona Response System is modifying the new PTR G3K clones like my rifle pictured.

That is testors model paint in the receiver markings.  Would look nice on your bushy auto.

Did you replace yours with the allen screw, or did yours come that way?

I'm not yet sure I want to SBR the gun and would like some user input on the long F/H.
