Went to the gunshow in Columbia yesterday. Only saw two Garands, both of them at the same table. Both Springfields. One looked to be a "service grade" with a five million serial number. Nice looking M1. The tag said $895.
The other one looked to be in "field-grade" condition. It had a tag that said. $795.
I could find only four carbines at the whole show.
The first was an Inland, good overall condition with an import stamp going for $750. The second was an Underwood in good condtion, with import stamp marked $750.
The third was a Winchester with a beat up stock and faded park with a big honkin' import stamp on the barrel the guy had marked for $1600.
The fourth was a Universal for $495.
Ammo was in short supply and what they had was expensive.
I don't know why I even bother to go anymore.
