Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Glass bedding the M1 Garand

Has anyone here had experience bedding the M1A?  I have bedded bolt actions but now I want to bed my M1.  I see in the Brownells catalog that some fixtures are sold for this, are they necessary?  Any help would be appreciated.

Pick up a copy of, "THE M1 RIFLE", from the NRA bookstore.  It is 3.95 plus shipping.  It walks you through the process of bedding the M1 and shows you what fixtures you need and how to make them yourself.  Plus it has a lot of other interesting facts and how to's in it.

I second that!  (of course my copy still has the $2.50 price tag on it from when I bought it 10+ years before I got a Garand)

 A gnats hair from finishing my first bedding job on an M1 Garand....NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN!   Whew!!!
