This is exactly like asking whether a Chevy pickup is better than a Ford pickup with the same engine size and options. The tube technology is almost identical. Only spec sheets will tell you which individual tube is better.
Sometimes it is the ITT tube and others times L3. I will say I have been impressed with the L3 Omni VIII tubes I have seen.

All very clean and good performers. The Night Enforcers by ITT are also always nice. I would base my purchase on price, warranty, customer service and dealer reputation.

I just went through the same decision and ended up ordering the ITT. The L3 is rated for 300blk and 6.8 if that means anything to you.

In the end it seemed like a toss up as those in the know say that they are almost identicle in performance. I almost wondering if it wouldn't have been better to go with the L3 because it sounds like the unit would hold up better in the event of drops or hard use.

I too am new to night vision and I'm trying to decide between the Pinnacle and L3 before the current TNVC sale ends.  I have read that the Pinnacle gathers more than the L3 light due to it being filmless.  So does the Pinnacle offer a better "picture" overall than the L3 (given the specs are comparable)?  I like the idea that I can mount the L3 on my 300blk if I want to go that route, but paying that much money, I might go with the Pinnacle if it has a better "picture"

Pinnacle tubes are NOT filmless, they are thin-filmed and autogated.
