A few months ago I posted about my newly manufactured stock that split soon after taking it to the range. I originally intended for that stock to replace my WWII NFR stock just to keep it from any further wear/damage/etc. The CMP said to ship it back and they'd replace it.
While I was waiting for a replacement, I put the WWII stock back on. Mind you, before I bought the new stock, I had about 2,000 rounds through the rifle and the WWII stock held up fine. But since I put it back on and put less than 100 rounds through, it split in the SAME areas as the new stock!
I'm beginning to thing there might be something wrong with the rifle that is causing this? Or is this just really bad luck?

Holy Crap!

I can't imagine that happening to two different stocks without something being wrong with the rifle....what kind of loads were you using?

Are you using M2 ball?

Is the pin missing on your lower band?  What shape is your trigger group in, esp the locking lugs on the trigger guard.

Yeah, I've been using M2 Ball.

Trigger group is in good shape, but yes the pin is missing from the lower band.

Most likely place to start.  Install one before you try another stock.

I fit my own stocks, and as mentioned above, make sure you have some gap between the front of the triggerhousing baseplate and the wood.

If I were having that problem, I would order one or two "rough" stocks from Dougsstockpile,com and use those to test fire before I put a 100 dollar stock back on the rifle.  Doug can sell you 2 stocks for under 40 bucks delivered.
