At the gunshow today I found a used stainless 77/22, and picked it up for $360.  I got home and shot a few CB 22s off to make sure it worked properly.  I've yet to take it apart, and am running out the door for the rest of the weekend, but noticed two things that are a concern.

1) The trigger is EXTREMELY light, dangerously so in fact.  I would NEVER hand this to anybody without extreme trigger discipline.  Are they adjustable and someone probably adjusted it to the minimum?  Something broken?

2) When operating the bolt, there is a sizable 'klunk' when closing it.  At a certain point there is a normal sounding click, then closing it a little further gets you this klunk. Moving it slowly doesn't stop it from happening.  Is this normal for a 77/22?  I'm going to use this as a base for suppressed shooting with my AAC Prodigy, and that klunk will likely be louder than the shot (using subsonics).  I'm suprised it's this loud, as it's a hunting rifle and I'd think that hunters would want something much more quiet.

Well, there's a click as the cam drops the firing pin onto the sear, but nowhere near as loud as the firing pin falling on an empty chamber. The little used one I picked up used for my daughter had a pretty good trigger, maybe 3pounds or 3 1/2, I put in a Timney sear and spring and got 1.9 lb, which I thought a little light for field use, so I put the original spring back in; haven't weighed it, but I'm guessing about 2 1/2 lb., feels great.

if the trigger is not adj, and you would prefer a stock, with clean break, lmk. i'd do a swap with you.

I'll let you know what I find when I take it apart...

That's the klunk I'm hearing.  I wish it was a click.
