Just saw this on FaceBook. Looks like a good deal if everyone can use it, as they indicate it can be.

That is correct a new system for the entire industry. This should keep wait times under 90 days after they clear out the old forms.

Great job S.S., not only looking out for yourself & your customers, but for everyone in the Suppressor game.
Thank you |

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2017/08/18/nfa-process-modernized/
Without rule changes, regulation amendments, politicians or legislation, a partnership between the U.S. government and a small private industry group has dramatically changed the process in which National Firearms Act (NFA) controlled items are transferred between individuals and entities. There is now a system in place within the BATFE’s NFA DIvision, that will allow nearly everyone who files a Form 4 to transfer controlled items, such as silencers, a genuine chance at receiving approved forms in a few short months. Alongside the ATF, three silencer industry stalwarts spearheaded the best modernization of the registry in 83 years: Dead Air Armament, GEMTECH and Silencer Shop. View Quote |

It may not be the HPA, but cutting the wait time should see a spike in suppressor sales.
Are silencershop form 1s included in this new system? When will they be upgrading those submissions?
Good shit. A prime example of letting the private sector show the government a better way to do things.
Hats off to the ATF for entertaining a better mousetrap. I also continue to applaud SS for their efforts to make silencer ownership easier. You guys have done so much in the past few years and will continue to earn my business based on your hard work. |
So this has already taken effect? At least as I read it. So if I purchase a stamp from SS tomorrow then this new barcode system will be used?

This is outstanding news and Thank all 3 company's for working on this for us common folk.
Looks like in need more cans again. Some are just to loud. |
After reading this I looked and my 2 form 1s from silencershop actually had a silcershop QR code. Does this mean it's submitted with new system ? It doesn't look like barcode they are showing.
You guys need to explain how this actually works.
The barcode seems to be a PDF417 and decodes correctly, but it seems to only have the transferee's name and address and a code that looks like an identifier for what sort of form and revision it's for. So how does the ATF get the rest of the information automatically? Or is there some special sauce in the barcode that a normal PDF417 decoder wont spit out? Does it link back to a database to pull the rest of the info somehow? |
Soooo this doesn't do anything for those of us with suppressors on a Form4 currently? I'm only 5 months or so into a 12+ month wait.
I knew I should have waited until HPA or SHUSH or something like this came along. But damnit... I felt bad for all the layoffs from suppressor companies. |

Does the form generator have access to ATF's list of firearm models?
http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_17/481043_NFA-Branch-Dumbass-Idiots-.html This seems to be a common problem since they implemented their process of strict conformance to the exact verbiage that their data entry system accepts, without the public knowing what that verbiage is. Also need to eliminate fingerprints/photos and change to the instant NICS system. |

Man, this such hot new new technology!
I think it's a great addition to help speed up the process for Americans and I am greatful that SS put the effort to get this done. However, the technology to do this has been around for 15-20 years. This shows you how piss poor our government operates that they are just now using the latest technology from 15 years ago. |

If this barcode implementation can keep Form 4's to 3 months I'll be buying a shitload of NFA.

This week we have been seeing form 3's (dealer to dealer transfers) in as little as 4 HOURS!
thanks, I literally just purchased a Mask through SS. Was on the fence, but this pushed me over the edge.
Is this something all dealers will use or is it by choice? I'd like to know if Capitol Armory will be using this system as they are my go to dealer.

In before Silencerco issues a press release declaring barcodes illegal.

1) Thank you SilencerShop, gemtech, and deadair for helping us get our NFA stuff quicker.
2) SilencerShop, will you be using the barcode on all F4 purchases? Or just purchases of gemtech/deadair cans? 3) FBATFE, I'm at 11 months and 4 months for 3 post 41p purchases, reduced times my ass. O o o and my first NFA purchases? Yea 12 fucking months for both of them. Fuck y'all. |
I'm confused. Pardon my stupidity. If I want a Silencerco suppressor, I can't go through silencer shop, does that mean this doesn't apply? If I don't want a dead air or gemtech suppressor, does that mean this doesn't apply?
This applies to all purchases from Silencer Shop not just Dead Air and Gemtech.
If your dealer is Powered By and you use our system then your order will have the barcode automatically. If your dealer is not Powered By then they can use the free Form 4 Generator. |

You guys just earned (my second) order from you. Obsidian 45 order will come through my EOB Monday.
So is there a real chance that with the backlog clearing in 2-3 months, my wait time will be significantly less than a year? |
