A heart felt thanks to Jim Kibler and his Colonial rifle "how to" videos.   Here is my humble submission of his Colonial rifle kit.   It is bone stock 50 cal,  extra fancy maple,  round bottom rifling.  Finished with aquafortis, wipe on poly (i know), and wax.   Plan on this being my deer rifle.

Woah, those are big pictures!!!

Metal is finished with the brass patina solution.  Sorry for the picture quality,  but was so excited to be done,  i wanted to post them tonight!!  No smoke yet.

Such as she is!!

Very nice! You can be proud of that one!

Do you think the extra fancy/curly maple was worth the $$?

I like the metal treatment; seems to be a nice balance bewteen the rusted/pitted look and "armory bright."

Nice work!

ETA: @DocGP you should share these pics on the American Longrifles forum.

Minion,

Sorry, missed first question.   Yes to me,  the extra money was well spent.   I personally really enjoy the highly figured wood,  but that is a question everyone will have to answer for themselves.   Very pleased with what jim provided.

Beautiful.  How many hours do you have into the build?  Enjoy.

Nut,
I probably would say 25 hrs,  evenings here and there.   Easy to follow jim's videos and take your time.
