I had this rifle for several years  ( NIB )and never shot it. Irons zeroed very fast and easy. It was a fun little rifle to shoot. Once zeroed I shot at 200 yd plates. 40 rounds and one miss. Ruger did a good job on tightening the groups up on this little rifle. I did no real measuring but would gladly say 2-4 moa with bad aging eyes and a glaring bright sun . No stoppages at all with 150 through it today .I used Ruger 20 rnd mags. I have an 187 ( I think ) series and it's 100% reliable but will not group like this one. I have atleast 5000 rnds through her .    I bought it back in the mid 80's . Just thought Id share. Cheers WarDawg

I got one too.
I think I put 40 or 80 rounds through her when I first got it.
Just after Barry took office.

You know, after 5k rounds though the old rifle, maybe the barrel is shot out. Maybe it's worth it to you to put a new, modern barrel on it. Especially if Ruger is making better barrels than before.

I will be honest... I believe I am just as accurate (irons vs irons) with my mini-14 as I am with my AR at 100 yds...

ymmv

But I like my light little mini-14...

While you make a valid point about the barrel possibly being shot out, not sure the newer profile barrels will fit on the older rifles.

When I think of what I think my favorite rifle, in theory would be, it would be a scaled down M14 that fires an intermediate cartridge and weighs about 7 pounds.  Someday I should try a Mini 14 or 30.  I would've like to try it in 6.8 but I'm not sure about if ammo for it would work or be easy to get.  I remember there being issues with two different chamber specs or something.

Anyways.....  Cool pic MRW.
