Just got off the phone checking a status.

The guy said that the wait on statuses went up to 8 weeks.

So once your check clears THEN you wait 8 weeks before it will show up in the system. THEN you'll prolly wait another 8 months.

I haven't called on my last form, but they sure do get the check in the bank expediently.

That is a bummer and sadly why I am going to not worry about an SBR for now.  Maybe in a couple of years when/if things slow down a bit.

My form 4 that was cashed 13 Feb didnt go pending until 27 March, whereas my form 1 that was cashed mid december only took 2 weeks to go pending

So to avoid a 6-9 month delay with getting a form 1 done you are going to wait a year or 2 and hope it gets better.

I guess in a new math way that makes a lot of sense :)

I just don't want to deal with it.  The last stamp I got took < 2 months from mailing it in to receiving the stamp.  I just don't care to let the .gov hold onto my money for the better part of the year for the privilege of putting a short barrel on a rifle.  If you do that is fine, however, I don't think that an SBR is that cool to justify the wait.  If I could afford a machine gun then yeah I would do it but not for an SBR

I will just have to forget about the pending forms a little longer That isn't the worst news but not great news either. I just mail them in and try to forget about it.

Lol you never get the money back so it don't matter when you give it to them :) If you want a SBR you have to pay and you can pay now or pay latter, But the sooner you pay the sooner you play. The line is never going to get shorter. Scratch that the line will get shorter when they manage to ban NFA stuff but at that point it don't really matter anymore we will all be criminals.

Oh well.
My form 1 is out for delivery today.
New 300 blackout SBR.
I will just have to use my other lower until January or so.

In other words, it sounds like things are moving at the speed of government...

Paperwork is going to start growing fast.  The paperwork that is being processed right now, is starting to be post election crazy buys.  I wouldn't be surprised if we saw 10+ month wait periods.

I can definitely attest to this. I've never had more than two to three weeks elapse from receipt at the NFA (I use money orders so I don't have a "cash date") and pending until my most recent Form 1s.  They were received at the NFA on December 31st and pending on January 30. My most recent Form 4 was received February 2 and pending March 13, nearly six weeks later. It is definitely taking them longer to process the incoming paperwork.

It's nothing to deal with if you want it.  Just toss it in the mail and forget about it.  You'll get it back a lot sooner than a couple years.  Don't let them win!

Then let me demonstrate:

Sent my 2 F1's in late August, went pending September 11th, got it back right at 6 months.

Also, you can build a pistol and shoot it until your stamp comes in, then throw a stock on it.

Just called and my Form 1 mailed on Feb 14th went pending on April 11th.  The gent said approval should be October, so that's about 8 months door-to-door.
