I am trying some 9mm loads and am at the stage of expanding or trimming the case.  What is first?  I have them sized and deprimed and that went very well.  Thanks.

Also, with 9mm, do you clean the primer pocket like on rifle cases?

My advice is that you do not need to trim most straight walled handgun bras, ie 9mm, 45ACP, 38Spec, 44Mag, etc. it is not done by most reloaders.  You can proceed to case mouth expanding.

But, trimming is always done after sizing the case

Step #1.........de-cap and re-size.
Step #2.........re-prime on down stroke or off press.
Step #3.........expand mouth.
Step #4.........drop powder.
Step #5.........seat bullet and crimp (taper crimp for 9mm).

FWIW.......I've never trimmed 9mm cases.  And, never lubed them......use a carbide die set, it cuts the work involved.

Aloha, Mark

PS.........cleaning the crud out of a primer pocket is "optional."  For rifle or pistol.

If you have a case which is too long, throw it away!.  I do sort by length for consistency of crimp and mouth expansion.

I don't measure let alone trim pistol brass. (if I was working special match loads or big big 500S&W rounds––maybe.)  If you must, size first, then trim.  Load and shoot.
